Fitzroy Island near Cairns set the beautiful backdrop for Jo Matthews and Mark Billington’s intimate elopement.
Jo, from Mt Barker, and Mark, from Strathalbyn, met about 15 years ago while coaching basketball and have been together since 2017.
The couple exchanged vows on Nudey Beach in an intimate ceremony, but the day included plenty of moments for them to be alone together.
“We did a morning hike to the Fitzroy Island Lighthouse,” Jo says.
“Once we were all dressed and ready for the ceremony we were able to share a mocktail at the outdoor restaurant and then have some quiet moments on the beach, while we waited for our guests to arrive on the glass-bottom boat.
“Later in the evening we enjoyed lawn games and dancing with our closest family, and still were able to enjoy some quiet moments for a walk on the beach and jetty at sunset.”
Adelaide Hills photographer James Field travelled to Fitzroy Island to capture the day. “James went above and beyond all our hopes in everyway,” Jo says.
