Editor’s note | Summer 2025/26

Summer in the Adelaide Hills is a time of celebration.

Welcome to the summer 2025/26 edition of the Hills Wanderer!

Summer in the Adelaide Hills is a time of celebration – Christmas, the New Year and summer holiday fun.

But it can also bring a greater awareness of the fire dangers posed by the hotter, drier weather.

In this edition, we will introduce you to one of the many wonderful volunteers who help to keep our region safe during the summer period and beyond and find out what drives her to sacrifice her time for her community.

We’ll also explore the world of antiques through the eyes of a local antiques dealer and host of television show Antiques DownUnder and pay tribute to a woman who, along with her husband, established one of the region’s best loved gardens and wedding venues.

We’ve also collaborated with some of the region’s chefs to bring you some mouth-watering summer recipes and delved into one of the most fascinating and infamous events of early colonial life in the Adelaide Hills.

So this summer, take a wander through the region with us and uncover some more of the hidden gems it has to offer.
