Editor’s note | Winter 2026

Grab a cup of hot chocolate and explore the Adelaide Hills with the latest issue of Hills Wanderer.

Crackling campfires, toasted marshmallows and midnight stargazing – they’re the things winter memories are made of. As the weather cools and fire bans lift, it is the perfect time to rug up and enjoy the great outdoors. The Adelaide Hills has a number of great winter camping spots not too far from home and in this edition we will introduce you to some of our favourites.

We’ll also take you inside the creative world of Shakti – an Indian-Japanese dancer who has taken her unique performances around the world and now calls the Adelaide Hills home – and introduce you to two remarkable local men who served their countries in two very different conflicts, decades apart.

So grab a cup of hot chocolate and come with us as we explore a little bit more of what the Adelaide Hills has to offer.
