When Tim Rapisarda proposed to Tenae Colmer, things didn’t exactly go to plan.
Intending to propose on a Saturday night at Mt Lofty Summit, he visited Tenae’s dad to seek his blessing the day before.
But the unexpected visit roused his future-mother-in-law’s curiosity and she asked her daughter about it.
“Thinking my grand plan was exposed, I felt I had to act quickly to maintain my element of surprise,” Tim says.
“We’d generally have dinner with Tenae’s parents Friday night, so I decided to pull a stunt, telling Tenae I had a flat tire and asking her to pick me up first.
“Tenae was actually under the weather and hadn’t really clued onto what was happening and agreed to pick me up.
“On arrival, I called to say she might as well come inside, as I was not ready yet.
“As Tenae walked up the staircase to the second level, I had lined the staircase with tealight candles and was waiting on one knee in the living room as I popped the question.”
The couple, who first met online and had their first date at the Aldgate Pump Hotel, was married on November 8, 2024, at Burbrook Forest, with a reception at Kuitpo Hall.
“Everything ran smoothly and relatively on time, our food/drink vendors were a great hit that the guests enjoyed (Kombi Keg and Aussie Ripper Roasts), the vast majority of invited guests were able to join us, it rained in the morning but came good at 10am … and our wedding venue (Mase Events) did a great job of bringing our ideas to life and creating the best atmosphere,” Tim says.
