Chloe & Blake

Blake McIvor and Chloe Stephenson

It was almost a year to the day after Blake McIvor’s proposal that he and Chloe Stephenson were married.

The couple, who met on New Year’s Eve 2017 at an indie music night, tied the knot at Marybank Farm at Rostrevor on April 1.

“It was one year (minus one day) after we got engaged, so the timing worked out well,” Chloe says.

Blake’s proposal last year was followed by a retrospective of their favourite dates.

“Blake proposed one Saturday morning after making me surprise breakfast in bed,” Chloe says.

“We then spent the day revisiting our favourite old date spots – breakfast at the Coffee Institute, a walk along the Torrens, dinner at our favourite pizza restaurant (Tony Tomatoes) and cocktails at the Howling Owl.”

The pair, who both grew up in the Adelaide Hills – Chloe around Mt Barker, Nairne and Dawesley and Blake at Houghton – got to know each other during their first few dates around the time of the Adelaide Fringe and say they knew they had something special when “the honeymoon phase never ended”.

The couple’s wedding featured personal touches including table settings and proteas provided by mother-of-the-groom Melissa, and a second-hand wedding dress and accessories inspired by Chloe’s passion for sustainable fashion.
