Fashion in the Hills

If spring was all about the gentle reset, building those capsule pieces and rediscovering what works, summer is where we get to have fun again. This season is full of life, texture and colour, inviting us to step outside minimalism and embrace a more expressive, tactile way of dressing.
Across runways and local boutiques alike, one thing is clear: summer fashion is about joy.
And that’s something we could all use a little more of.

For the women

Soft, natural fabrics are still leading the way.
Think linen, cotton and crochet, but they’re showing up in bolder, more playful ways this year.
Bright citrus tones like mandarin and lime are joining the ever-popular pinks and blues, while buttery yellows and sky tones are making even a simple sundress feel elevated.
Crochet continues its revival, not just in tops and cover-ups but in statement pieces that mix structure with nostalgia.
Pair a crochet skirt with a crisp white shirt for a fresh take on boho.
Maxi dresses in lightweight fabrics remain a summer essential, but the key is in the print: mismatched florals, stripes or even abstract watercolour patterns.
And if you’re more of a neutrals lover, texture is your best friend.
Woven details, frayed hems, and embroidered cotton bring depth to soft, earthy tones like sand, oat and terracotta.

For the men

Men’s summer fashion has loosened up this year.
The tailored look isn’t gone, but it’s been relaxed.
Think lightweight linen shirts worn open over tanks, pleated shorts with a little extra room and loafers or slides instead of structured shoes.
Colour is having its moment here too.
From soft sage and dusty pink to ocean blue, men’s fashion this summer is all about quiet confidence.
If you’re unsure how to add colour, start small – a printed short-sleeve shirt or adding a pop of pastel in your accessories can go a long way.
Fabric choice makes all the difference in the heat. Linen and cotton are obvious go-to’s, however, you can try pairing them with textured knits or open-weave shirts for a relaxed, holiday-ready edge.

The local touch

What I love most about summer fashion in the Adelaide Hills is how naturally it blends with our lifestyle.
Whether you’re spending a lazy afternoon at a winery, exploring a weekend market or heading down to the coast, this season’s trends fit seamlessly into the way we live.
It’s not about chasing every look, it’s about choosing pieces that feel good, breathe well and bring a little spark of personality to your everyday outfits.
So this summer, embrace the joy of dressing up again.
Play with colour, reach for texture and let your clothes capture that carefree, sun-drenched spirit we all love about the season.
