Welcome to the autumn 2024 edition of the Hills Wanderer.
Autumn is perhaps one of the most beautiful seasons in the Adelaide Hills, largely thanks to the large number of deciduous European tree varieties found throughout many towns and the mesmerising rows of grape vines that turn a warm copper colour.
With milder weather on the horizon, now is the perfect time to embrace the great outdoors and to help you do that, we’ll reveal some of the Adelaide Hills’ best picnic spots in this edition of the Hills Wanderer.
We’ll also introduce you to a man who’s made a career out of show biz, including travelling around the world as a puppeteer, and take you back in time along the Pioneer Women’s Trail to glimpse a snapshot of the region’s past.
Meanwhile, Adelaide Hills chef Shannon Fleming will explain how you can start incorporating native ingredients into your home cooking – and why he believes more people should try it – and our regular gardening columnist Sally-Anne Fowles will share all her tips for making your garden thrive this autumn.
