Tasting Australia at a few of our favourite places

Wind your way down leafy lanes, stopping at villages like Lenswood, Lobethal, Mt Barker and Hahndorf – all within an hour’s drive from Adelaide and home to world-class produce and award-winning cool climate wines. This year’s Tasting Australia program from April 28 to May 7 is brimming with flavoursome events.

1
Barristers Block Producers Lunch with Comida

Barristers Block in Woodside is ready to welcome neighbours Comida Hahndorf to the table for another of its signature long lunches during Tasting Australia. Barrel tastings will greet guests on arrival, followed by a Comida x Barristers Block degustation. Pull up a chair at the yarn-telling table and let the producers take care of the rest. $179pp.

2
Live it large at Sequoia Luxury Lodge

Enjoy luxury at its best during Tasting Australia in an intimate Penfolds Grange overnight experience at Sequoia Lodge. A highlight of this overnight experience is a seasonal five-course dinner with matched wines, including two Grange vintages. Expect true luxury at every turn. At $3900 per couple this is the bee’s knees of a local staycation! Sunday 7 May.

3
Better Baking with Beerenberg

Gather in Grant’s Kitchen as guest foodie and recipe creator Chris Stephan shows off three baking techniques for a class of 20 participants. Take your own baking to the next level using delicious Beerenberg products. Enjoy a glass of local prosecco and a house-made appetiser during this Tasting Australia event, then sit back and relax as Chris and her right-hand cook, Jo, guide the group through three recipes. $77pp.

4
Sweet Cherry Pie

We welcome the new Cherry Bomb Café to the Hills which has just opened in what was formerly the Ashton General Store. Owner, Tanya Schroeder has undertaken the long five-year journey to re-open the former general store and bakery and the local community has been right there beside her cheering her on! The new shop is decorated with dried flowers and will be serving up delicious coffee, cakes, and toasties among other things.

5
What a woofer!

Check this out at The Haus.
Chefs Mani and Gary are excited to produce the Skara Deluxe Giant Dog! It’s got three kinds of sausages and is good for two people. The sausages and condiments are so good, we reckon you’ll bring your friends and family back to tackle this giant again! haushahndorf.com.au
