Pamper path

With a focus on wellness tourism and world-class food and wine, the Adelaide Hills is one of the best places to unwind, relax and rejuvenate. If you need a day of rest and recovery, take a wander through our top picks for the ultimate pamper day in the Adelaide Hills.

1
Get that caffeine hit!

Start your day at one of Mt Barker’s many well-loved coffee shops.
The historic and picturesque main street offers a range of options for the coffee connoisseur.
One of our favourites is Sazon – an artisan coffee shop with a Mexican inspired menu, popular with locals.
If caffeine is not your vice, why not grab a fresh juice or smoothie (think almond cherry bomb, strawberry maple oatmeal or your classic mixed berry) from the Gawler Street Cafe or, for something more substantial, try Sazon’s bircher muesli or breakfast squares to help you start the day.

2
Switch off and unwind with a luxury day spa treatment

Wander up the road and unwind with the ultimate luxury experience at Mt Barker’s new day spa, MANE.
Nestled in one of the main street’s charming buildings, MANE Day Spa is one of the latest additions to the popular MANE hairdressers and offers a range of treatments to help you leave your stress behind. Relax with one of their soothing and restorative massages, energise in their infrared sauna or combine multiple treatments in one of their luxury experiences (start by unwinding with a pot of tea in their lounge before melting your worries away with treatments including soothing foot soaks and scrubs, hot stone massages, vitamin boost facials and sauna sessions).

3
Take a long lunch and walk it off with a stroll along one of the region’s picturesque main streets.

After fully relaxing with a spa treatment, you’ll be ready for a bite to eat and, fortunately, some of the State’s best dining experiences are right on your doorstep!
For the full luxury experience, let the team at Adelaide Hills Chauffeur and Limo Service do the driving and head to one of the region’s most picturesque towns.
Enjoy fresh and seasonal fare at Patch at Stirling (which incidentally was recently named as one of only a handful of SA finalists in the Gourmet Traveller 2024 Restaurant Awards), or, if you want the full Adelaide Hills heritage experience, sample the German-inspired menu (including baked brie, pork hock, Atlantic salmon and of course a range of wurst) at the Haus at Hahndorf.
In Hahndorf enjoy the hustle and bustle of a true tourist town, wandering through the many artisan shops, galleries and boutiques (some of our favourites include the Hahndorf Candlemaker (for a real taste of traditional Germany!), Storison and Agave).
If you’ve stopped for lunch at Stirling, the beautiful tree-lined main street offers a range of classy boutiques, including Max Milan (the ultimate go-to place to find a gift for the man who has everything!), Tara’s Folly (an eclectic range of Australian and international labels as well as homewares and jewellery) and local favourite Red Cacao chocolate shop … and don’t forget to check out the wide range of local and best-selling books at Matilda Bookshop.

4
Relax with a glass of wine

You can’t unwind in the Adelaide Hills without sampling some of the region’s finest wines … and there is a huge range of world-class wineries to choose from!
Sip some of the region’s emerging varieties at Hahndorf Hill Winery, book a wine flight at Lobethal Road’s cosy and welcoming cellar door or pair your favourite wine with a grazing platter at the rustic, farm-style Barristers Block cellar door.

5
Immerse yourself in the region’s art culture

The Adelaide Hills is full of artists and talented craftsmen and women and there are so many ways to immerse yourself in this culture.
Wander through the galleries at the Hahndorf Academy (there are several exhibitions on during spring), visit the Tineriba Tribal Gallery in Hahndorf’s main street, take an art class at Atelier at Crafers or learn how to make your own jewellery or pottery at one of the many artisan classes on offer around the region.

6
Finish… with a world-class dining experience.

Soak up breath-taking views across the Piccadilly Valley, while taking a journey through the best of Australian cuisine with a carefully created menu and winelist at the three-hat Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant at Mt Lofty House, or sample the seasonal and locally-sourced menu at the Summertown Aristologist, both of which were
named in this year’s Australia Good Food Guide
SA Restaurant Awards.
